About Player
Coming from a family of Rugby players, John Simpson is a stylish wicket-keeper batsman. Having played for Lancashire in every age group at the junior level, Simpson has also represented the England Under-19 team. Simpson made his debut for Middlesex, but got recognition in the 2011 season as he scored close to 900 runs at a staggering average of 43.
He is a quality wicket-keeper and has also played a handful of match-winning knocks for Middlesex. A century against Hampshire and another match defining knock at Taunton that helped Middlesex win the Championship title after 23 years - to name a few. Apart from Middlesex, Simpson has played for the Marylebone Cricket Club and has scored in excess of 5500 runs in his first-class career.
Simpson has a wide range of shots and is a decent batsman across all formats but having a mediocre average of 30 in first-class cricket hasn't helped his cause to take giant strides in the sport.
