With first-class wickets in excess of 400, James Harris played his initial years of cricket for Glamorgan. And having made his debut close to a decade ago, Harris is a highly regarded cricketer. Also known as Rolf, Harris was the youngest cricketer to play for Glamorgan 2nd XI at the age of 14. His maiden first-class match came at the age of 17 against Gloucestershire and since then he has been a regular player in the first-class circuit; also the reason why he has such a huge tally of wickets. Apart from that, James Harris holds the record as the youngest Glamorgan player to pick 100 first-class wickets. When he was new to the scene, he led the England Under-16 side in 2006 and was a part of England team during the Under-19 World Cup two years later. James’ fruitful span with Glamorgan where he claimed 204 first-class wickets came to an end in 2012 when he was signed by Middlesex. Harris didn't have that great a beginning to his Middlesex career as he was trying very hard to make it to England’s national team. He tried to build more pace and in the process lost his confidence and consistency, something that many pacers go through. Trying to build his pace didn’t work out; hence he turned back to his old action, his old methods and soon after got his mojo back. Harris got 69 Division One wickets as Middlesex ended as runner-ups of the County Championship in 2015. Although, James Harris has had a successful first-class career, being a fast bowler, he has gone through a number of injuries - part and parcel of a fast bowler's career. One of the major injuries of his career was the groin injury he faced in 2011 due to a lot of workload where he bowled in excess of 1000 overs in a year of first-class cricket. Having played so much of first-class cricket has only helped him to improve his batting. Due to his all-round contributions, James Harris happens to be a key member of Middlesex when it comes to first-class cricket.
