About Player

An opening batsman, Daniel Bell-Drummond, has already featured in various England teams, right from the Under-19 level to that of the Lions team. Born to parents of Jamaican descent, Bell-Drummond's batting style is a bit of both England and West Indies style.

The talented batsman has developed through the years, scoring a bucketful of runs when he was still seven years old. In fact he hit a hundred, his first of his career, for the Catford Wanderers club, when he was aged just seven. Having been spotted by Kent, he played in various age group matches before being offered a three-year contract by the county at the age of seventeen.

Prolific in his scoring, Bell-Drummond was a part of several England Under-19 teams and also featured in the 2012 edition of the Under-19 World Cup. He made his much awaited Kent debut in 2011 at a tender age of 17, but had to wait until 2013 to become a regular feature in the first eleven. Consistent scores saw him earn his first England Lions call-up and he made his first appearance against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a Twenty20 match.

It was however in 2016 that Drummond-Bell prospered as a batsman and one that firmly cast the selectors' eyes towards this young talent. He started with a career-best 206* against Loughborough MCC University, followed it up with another career-best, this time in the limited overs format, 171* against Sri Lanka A - an innings which included the second highest-ever partnership in List A cricket - an unbeaten 367-run stand for the second wicket with Ben Duckett. It was also the year in which he recorded his highest Twenty20 score as well - 112* against Surrey.

The terrific performances of 2016 finally saw the emergence of a precocious talent and Bell-Drummond was named in the Lions squad for the tours to UAE and Sri Lanka while also being part of the North-South series during the off-season..
