Australia have produced a lot of leg-spinners after the retirement of Shane Warne and a former off-spinner Ashley Mallett regards Cameron Boyce as the best among them in the Australian first-class circuit. He is a modern day spinner whose prowess is more suited for the shorter formats than the longer one. 'Boycey', as he is popularly known among his mates made his T20I debut against Pakistan in 2014. He returned with seriously good figures of 2-10 in his four overs and played a pivotal role in restricting Pakistan under the score of 100. Boyce last played an International T20 match against India at Sydney in January 2016 and his last two scalps in international cricket were arguably the best players in limited-overs cricket of that generation, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. In a high scoring match where India chased down 197 in the final over, Boyce picked up the most number of wickets in the match and was the most economical bowler on show. Ironically, after that stellar performance he was controversially overlooked for 2016 T20 World Cup Squad and wasn't picked for Australia since then. In the 2009-10 season Boyce became the youngest to take a five-wicket haul in a Shield final. But his career has never taken off as he would have liked it to. He moved to Queensland from Tasmania after being starved of opportunities following the emergence of rookie Mitchell Swepson. In 2017 JLT One-Day Cup, Boyce was one of the most prominent bowlers for Tasmania, capturing 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 29.7. After beginning his BBL career with the Adelaide Strikers in 2012/13, he represented Hobart Hurricanes between 2014/15 and 2017/18.
