Arafat Sunny is a handy left-arm spinner from Bangladesh. He made his First-Class debut for Dhaka division in 2001-02 season. Currently, he plays for Dhaka Metropolis. Sunny played for Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League, which started in 2012. He made his T20I debut for Bangladesh in the first game against Sri Lanka in Chittagong in February 2014, and picked up three wickets. He was the most successful spinner in last season's Dhaka Premier Division, the country's List A competition, with 29 wickets at an average of 19.13. He represented Rangpur Riders in the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Bangladesh Premier League. Sunny was the second highest wicket-taker in the ODI series against Zimbabwe in Nov-Dec 2014. He picked up 10 wickets in three matches at an impressive average of 7.80, including two four-wicket hauls. He was later awarded the national contract from the BCB. He was selected for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and his services were needed for only one match. He played the must-win game against England in Adelaide. He wasn't effective with the ball and was dropped for further matches. The left-arm spinner was selected for the home ODI series against Pakistan in 2015 after the World Cup. He picked six wickets in three games and retained his place for the India series. Continuous failures led to him being axed from the 50-over format. The selectors persisted with the left-arm bowler in T20s. He was selected for the World T20 held in India in 2016. But, midway through the tournament, he was sent back as his as his bowling action along with fellow team-mate Taskin Ahmed was found to be illegal. In September 2016, Sunny remodeled his bowling action and it was found to be legal by the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. However, he hasn't been considered for selection by the selectors since the ban. He was arrested by the Bangladesh police in Dhaka on January 2017 after he allegedly posted sensitive photos on social media. It is very unlikely to see Arafat Sunny in Bangladesh colors again.
