Sompal Kami is a leading Nepali pacer who bowls at around the 140 kmph mark. Sompal made his entry to Kathmandu Region No. 3 through the Nepali Cricket Fan Club. He was one of the main players of Kathmandu Region No.3 which won the U-19 National Championship. He had an amazing tournament with both bat and the ball. He scored 2 tons as well registered brilliant bowling figures. After his father migrated to Punjab for work, Kami made sure his love for cricket still remained strong. He continued playing in various school level tournaments and was also a part of the Indian Premier Corporate League.
Kami was subsequently selected for the Nepal national cricket team in the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. He played six List A games in the Qualifier and took 8 wickets with best figures of 3/35. He later was a part of the Nepali squad for the 2014 World T20 and took 4 wickets in 3 games with personal best figures 2/13.
In the 2014 ACC Premier League in Malaysia, he took 15 wickets in total and was named as the best bowler of the tournament. His impressive wicket tally included a personal best of 5/47 that he took against Malaysia.
