England, Leicestershire, The Rest, First-Class Counties Select XI, England Lions/England A, Warwickshire
A thorough county professional, Darren Maddy struggled to gain a foothold in international cricket. He broke into the ODI side in 1998 on the back of some strong performances for Leicestershire. His county won the Championship title in 1996 and 1998. His vibrant stroke-play in ODIs was more eye-catching. However, Maddy struggled to translate his domestic heroics onto the international scene. He was on the pane to South Africa for the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup but came up short again. As it stands, his international career was checked to just 15 appearances (3 Tests, 8 ODIs and 4 T20Is). Maddy though continued to shine for Leicestershire before moving to Warwickshire. He was named as the captain of Warwickshire after the resignation of Heath Streak in April 2007.
