Born in Bharatpur of Rajasthan, Akash Singh is a left arm pacer who hits the deck hard and has the ability to generate seam movement. He is a product of India’s under-19 youth setup and was part of India’s squad in the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where the team finished as the runners up.
Singh has been highly rated by the former South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini, who believes that the pacer is already groomed to represent India when he grows older.
Singh made his T20 debut for Rajasthan in the 2019/20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). He grabbed two wickets conceding 26 runs in four overs.
After doing well for Rajasthan in SMAT, Singh was called up for the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup. The left-armer took seven wickets in the tournament and earned praise for his bowling from the cricketing fraternities.
Akash was also among the five players, who were sanctioned for brawling in the immediate aftermath of Bangladesh’s victory over India in the under-19 World Cup final in South Africa.
