Shane Snater, a cousin of Jason Roy, was born in Zimbabwe but qualified to represent Netherlands via a Dutch passport. He first played for Essex in 2018, taking a five-wicket haul in the Royal London Cup against Somerset and winning a full-time contract. He made his County Championship debut in 2021 and claimed a career-best 7 for 98 in his second game, against Nottinghamshire.
