Growing up, Shakera Selman played football as well as cricket with the boys in the neighbourhood. Her uncle played cricket at the club level, and attending those matches made her fall in love with the sport. She played school-level cricket seriously, and trained under former West Indies men's assistant coach, Roddy Estwick. There was no looking back..
