India, Madhya Pradesh, India A, Duleep Trophy Team C, Royal Challengers Bengaluru/Royal Challengers Bangalore
If you're to mention the names of some late bloomers in Indian cricket, Rajat Patidar would come high up on the list. Until the 2021-22 season, he was another middle-order batter who was making runs at the domestic level and going unnoticed at times. It changed though with Madhya Pradesh winning their first-ever Ranji title and Rajat Patidar playing a crucial role in helping his side to a historic success. He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2021 IPL auctions. He had moderate success in the limited chances and was promptly released ahead of the 2022 tournament. A stroke of luck meant a comeback into the same franchise as an injury replacement mid-way through the tournament and he then went on to play the innings of the season, a superb 54-ball 112* against the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator playoff..
