Jonathan Carter is a left-handed middle-order batsman, who plies his trade for Barbados in First Class cricket. The southpaw has represented the West Indies A as well as Under-19 teams. He is also someone, who can roll his arm over - a right-arm medium pace bowler.
Carter toured India with the West Indies A set-up in September 2013, where he scored a century against India A in a List A game in Bangalore. Soon after, he registered his maiden First-Class ton while playing against Jamaica. Carter also represented Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League. During the Champions League 2014, he got his first T20 hundred. The selectors picked him for the national side based on consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Carter got his first ODI cap against South Africa in January 2015, though he did not have the best of starts, the selectors kept faith in him and named him in the 15-man squad for the 2015 World Cup.
